The romantic allure of tropical island living is the inspiration behind the newly opened Homewares and Lifestyle store, Orchid House Island Boutique; with natural fibres and weaves, recycled hardwoods, monochrome decorative items and touches of seaside colours and tropical patterns theming the light and airy, lofted space.

Orchid House Island Boutique opened its doors in April 2018 in the central and up & coming area of Bangrak Beach.

The boutique offers unique, island inspired homewares and gifts to locals, expats and tourists on the island. Currently sourcing their items from South East Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia and India, the intent is to expand further afield globally to source items in the future.
“We would like to incorporate island style items from all over the world to offer some different choices to our clients. We would like to bring in new items and offer the shop a fresh look every quarter to ensure there is variation in the products available to our regular clientele.”

“The world of interior design is similar to fashion, in that it’s ever-changing and evolving. We want to be able to brings some detail items to the island that are in season”

Having owned a small interior design company (Orchid House Design & Interiors) for the past 4 years, and previously renovating a boutique resort and Japanese restaurant in Fisherman’s Village, Orchid House Island Boutique owners, Natalie & Glen decided to branch into the retail sector. After years travelling across the country and overseas to source interior items for their Koh Samui clients, they saw a niche market for decorative and detail homewares for villas and resorts on the island.

“We wanted to open a shop that has something for everyone – from four poster beds and statement chairs, to woven floor rugs, hats, bags and sterling silver jewellery pieces from the world-renowned Chiang Mai silver artisans. The design was influenced by our travels and we wanted to bring something fresh and new to the island, while maintaining Samui’s small, luxury island charm”

Koh Samui has quickly become a ‘hot spot’ for villa buyers, high-end resort and hotel developments and international tourists visiting the idyllic island location.

With tourist and resident numbers increasing year by year in the region, Orchid House Island Boutique will continue to evolve with the ever-changing global design market to keep Koh Samui and surrounding islands at the forefront of island design trends in the homewares and gift arena.
